Doppia inaugurazione tutta georgiana e al femminile per kaufmann repetto.
Tra sculture leggere e performance pittoriche a negativi di foto ritagliati e ricomposti.

kaufmann repetto announces Things Are Going Great In My Absence, a solo exhibition by Berlin-based photographer Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili. For Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili, the object of photography is as entrenched in image as in technical and conceptual parameters. Overlapping traditional darkroom and digital techniques, Alexi-Meskhishvili creates spectral images that are strangely tactile, but almost painfully fleeting. Negatives are collaged and cut-out by hand, others are scanned, a hand-printed photograph is juxtaposed next to a digitally altered composition: a dense world of analog and digital that works to create confounding and complex imagery. In her recent series, German Flowers, Alexi-Meskhishvili presents works with flowers as subjects. The photographs are however surprisingly subdued and algid, as in White Flower, which presents an unusually plain white orchid. More decorous than tantalizing, these images supplant rather than satisfy desire and expectation – harbingers not of beauty, but of an inevitable end. (press release extract)
